Publicans’ union NAHLM has been relaunched as Licensees Unite.

The new union covers pub managers, licenses and all personal licence holders, including restaurant and club managers.

In a statement the company said the relaunch came as the pub industry found itself in crisis.

“Our members are facing the impact of declining beer sales and an increasing number of pub closures. The publican is in the front line of dealing with issues like the smoking ban and excessive drinking by young people.”

The union, part of super union Unite, which was formed by the merger of Amicus and the Transport and General Workers Union last May, is launching a recruitment drive.
