The Glencoe Hostel and Bunkhouse

The Glencoe Hostel and Bunkhouse in the Scottish Highlands has been sold to Keith and Davina Melton.

The easily-run business of bunkhouse and self-catering accommodation is located at the entrance to Glencoe, one of the top tourist destinations in the UK and site of the notorious 1692 massacre of members of the MacDonald clan by the Campbells of Argyll.

It caters for outdoor enthusiasts and travellers in an area where local activities include hill walking, mountaineering, fishing, shooting, skiing, and sailing.

The business was developed from a former 17th century farmstead and can now sleep up to 70 guests across a range of buildings in the near two-acre site.

They include the Hostel (for 18 sleepers), Ben End Cottage (10), The Alpine (24) and the Chalet (four). There are also four static caravans.

The new owners inherit planning consent for a detached four-bedroom house and for toilets, showers and other amenities on the site.

The Glasgow office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold off a guide price of £495,000.
