Ritz-Carlton has won the contract to operate the world's highest hotel, in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

The 300-bedroom hotel will be housed at the top of the world's tallest tower - a 100 storey-plus building, rising 1,574ft above Victoria Harbour (right).

Scheduled to open in 2009, the hotel will occupy the top 13 storeys of the tower and include three fine-dining restaurants, 1,200sq m of meeting space, and two swimming pools - one on the roof.

The hotel forms part of the world's largest regeneration project, which will cover 12 million sq ft in total. The development will also include 6,000 apartments and a 100,000sq ft area of international food and beverage and leisure operators, sourced by property agents Davis Coffer Lyons.

Ritz-Carlton has also signed a letter of intent to open a second Chinese property in Shanghai, on Century Boulevard. Both hotels will be owned by Sun Hung Kai Properties.
