Medirest wins £20m London hospital contract
Medirest, the healthcare services division of Compass Group, has secured a new £4m yearly turnover contract to provide catering and cleaning at Homerton University Hospital in Hackney, London. The five-year deal with Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust begins in March 2005. Medirest will cater for more than 640 patients, 1,800 staff, and visitors to the hospital.
Eurest extends government office contract
Eurest has extended its contract to provide catering and hospitality food services at 165 Department of Work and Pensions offices. The contract, with facilities management company Land Securities Trillium, will now run until 2018, and will turn over £12m a year. Eurest is part of Compass Group.
ESS wins North Sea rig contract
ESS, Compass Group's defence and offshore division, has won a second contract with Rowan Drilling. The contract, for one year initially, will turn over £500,000 a year. A team of eight ESS employees will provide catering and hotel services for more than 90 staff aboard the Rowan Gorilla V drilling rig in the North Sea. ESS already provides a similar service on the Rowan Gorilla VII rig.
All Leisure launches celebrity corporate dining programme
All Leisure, the sport and leisure division of Compass Group, is to launch a corporate dining programme featuring VIP guests from the worlds of show business, commerce, politics, media and sport. The Accolade programme will provide an opportunity for business representatives to hear the celebrities while entertaining clients and colleagues over a five-star lunch or dinner. For the inaugural event, Formula One tycoon Bernie Ecclestone will will be interviewed by ITV sports presenter Jim Rosenthal at the Dorchester hotel, London, on 10 March.
Elior posts strong performance
Elior, the French catering company which owns Avenance in the UK, has announced strong growth in its contract catering operations. First quarter results show a rise in contract catering turnover of 5.6% to €485m (£330m) in the three months to 31 December. Overall group turnover for the period rose 6.7% to €699m (£475m). The news follows recent contract wins for Avenance with Malvern College and the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.
Eurest to cater for Audi's flagship showroom
Eurest has won a contract to provide catering and hospitality services at Glasgow Audi, the German car firm's new showroom and conference centre. Eurest's team of 13 will service the centre's 160-seat conference and events facility, and also a bistro-style café within the centre's museum, and a restaurant for the centre's 140 staff. The rolling contract will turn over £300,000 a year.
