The site of the former award-winning London restaurant East@West is to be transformed into a new Latino bar and restaurant concept by the people behind the Buddha Bar in Paris.
A shell company called Bahia bought the site for an undisclosed sum from previous owner Image Restaurants, although it is expected to operate under the Barrio Latino brand. Buddha Bar supremo Raymond Visan was spotted inspecting the site several times before the purchase. However, it is thought that the new operation will be run independently. Visan was unavailable for comment.
The first Barrio Latino is on Paris's Rue de Faubourg Saint Antonie. Property agent Shelley Sandzer structured the deal but would not comment.
