Holroyd Howe wins Yahoo! contract
Independent contract caterer Holroyd Howe has won a one-year rolling contract to provide catering services to 600 Yahoo! employees at its offices in Shaftsbury Avenue, London. The contract, which will turn over £185,000 a year, will see three Holroyd Howe employees work at the new site.
Alpha sets sights on Eastern Europe market
In-flight caterer Alpha Airports has bought Romanian flight and retail catering company Abela Rocas for €5m (£3.4m). The Romanian business, which turned over £5.3m last year, is based at Bucharest international airport. Alpha chief executive Kevin Abbot said: “This transaction is the next step forward in building our European network. Eastern Europe is a new market and we anticipate growth and further development opportunities.”
Michelin-starred restaurant moves into catering
The Michelin-starred Horn of Plenty hotel and restaurant near Tavistock, Devon, has launched an outside catering service. The catering operation plans to only use locally-sourced ingredients and the services will range from buffets to banquets. Chef Peter Gorton said: “It’s time we took the Horn of Plenty to them [our customers].”
Thomas Franks wins three-year contract at manufacturer SKF
Independent contract caterer Thomas Franks has won the catering, vending and hospitality contract at bearings manufacturer SKF in Luton, Bedfordshire. Five staff will work on the three-year contract, which will turn over £200,000 a year and serve 500 SKF staff. It was previously held by Sodexho.
