Rugby stars try to tackle the full Montie's

Scottish rugby stars Simon Taylor, Marcus di Rollo, Chris Paterson and Mike Blair were first in line to indulge in Montpeliers of Bruntsfield's Bigger Better Breakfasts (£8.95) - each of which contains an entire day's calorie allowance.

Options at the Edinburgh café include the eight-egg omelette, the pancake stack and Montie's mixed grill. The grill consists of sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, potato scones, minute steak, French toast, haggis and black pudding, while the stack gives customers five pancakes with fillings.

The meals are designed to be virtually impossible to finish, but general manager Barrie Brown still expects the menu to be popular. "These are real man-sized meals," he said.
