Contract caterer Sodexo has appointed Wan Mak in the newly created role of head of nutrition and dietetics.

Mak has worked for Sodexo’s Education division for three years, and is credited as having been instrumental in ensuring the caterer’s education business complies with government nutritional standards for school meals in England.

In her new role she will be responsible for health and well-being matters and for driving the company’s Healthwise philosophy across its business.

The registered dietician will report to Claire Morris, Sodexo marketing director (consumer insight and nutrition) and will be supported by two other dieticians.

Mak said: I’m absolutely delighted to be taking on this new role.

“With nutrition becoming ever more important in our lives and our industry, there is no better or more exciting time to focus on the key issues of health and well-being across Sodexo's business segments."

Sodexo group reported an increase in turnover of 7.8% for the first six months to 21 April 2009 €7.6b (£6.9b). Operating profit was 7.1% ahead of the same period last year at €421m (£380m).
