Pete Phillips has joined Marco Pierre White's outside catering division, MPW Catering, as head of logistics. He joins from party planning company Rhubarb, where he had worked for the past six years.
Jonathan Sanders, business development director at MPW Catering, said signing Phillips launched the company into the big league of event caterers.
"He understands what we're trying to do here, which is bespoke catering for major events. We have very high expectations and intend to do incredibly well in this market."
MPW Catering has five major events booked for September at Old Billingsgate Market, and has closed its book for that month. "We want to give ourselves some breathing space between them," said Sanders.
Among the biggest events the company has catered for since it started operating a year ago was the launch of Apple's mini Ipod earlier this year and a five-day conference for the BBC.
