What: Dissidence & Cake - an exhibition by writer and artist Martin Firrel at Maison Bertaux pàtisserie in London's Soho.
Why: Firrel describes his exhibition as "a sly encouragement to subversion, as cake is a sly subversion to test the edges, to be tempted, to transgress... "
Apparently, the concept behind the exhibition is the idea of the café as a home for free thought and rebellion, fuelled by good coffee and cake. It's manifested in images of Montparnasse in the early 20th century.
We're not sure about the theory, but any excuse to eat cake is always good.
Good for: cake-lovers everywhere
Bad for: Atkins
Where: Maison Bertaux, 28 Greek Street, London
