The three-star, 20-bedroom Unicorn Hotel in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, has recruited Michael Carr as its new head chef. Michael previously worked in the kitchens of the Village Pub in Barnsley, Gloucestershire, which has a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Richard Slade, the former general manager of the Best Western Russell Hotel in Maidstone, Kent, has taken on the same role at the 30-bedroom Hadlow Manor Hotel in Tonbridge, Kent. Taking Richard's place at the three-star, 42-bedroom Russell Hotel is Christine Cooper, who has been promoted from deputy manager.

Kempinski Hotels & Resorts has appointed Stefan Schmidt to the role of groups co-ordinator, to look after group bookings at its London international sales office. His appointment follows his apprenticeship at the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin, Germany, where he helped the director of groups and events.

Pubs and bars

Angus Meldrum has succeeded Dr Chris Grieg as chairman of Belhaven Group following Chris's retirement. Angus, who joined Belhaven in 2002 as a non-executive director, has plenty of pub experience, having worked for Bass for 30 years.
