Hotels
The three-star, 20-bedroom Unicorn Hotel in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, has recruited Michael Carr as its new head chef. Michael previously worked in the kitchens of the Village Pub in Barnsley, Gloucestershire, which has a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Richard Slade, the former general manager of the Best Western Russell Hotel in Maidstone, Kent, has taken on the same role at the 30-bedroom Hadlow Manor Hotel in Tonbridge, Kent. Taking Richard's place at the three-star, 42-bedroom Russell Hotel is Christine Cooper, who has been promoted from deputy manager.
Kempinski Hotels & Resorts has appointed Stefan Schmidt to the role of groups co-ordinator, to look after group bookings at its London international sales office. His appointment follows his apprenticeship at the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin, Germany, where he helped the director of groups and events.
Pubs and bars
Angus Meldrum has succeeded Dr Chris Grieg as chairman of Belhaven Group following Chris's retirement. Angus, who joined Belhaven in 2002 as a non-executive director, has plenty of pub experience, having worked for Bass for 30 years.
Contract catering
Compass Group's healthcare arm, Medirest, has welcomed Susan McHugh as regional training officer based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury, Lancashire. Susan joins Medirest from food training company QFT, where she was business development manager.

Kitty Tobin has been appointed to the newly created role of executive officer of the HCIMA, the professional body for managers in the industry. Kitty formerly worked for trade union Unison as executive and conference officer.
Chris Costard, head concierge of the Cambridge Garden House Moat House, has been awarded membership of the Cross Keys International Concierge Association.
