Jamie's Italian to launch fourth London site in Clerkenwell
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's high-street restaurant chain, Jamie's Italian, is set to open a fourth site in London with the launch of a new restaurant at the Angel Building in Clerkenwell.
The chain, which also has restaurants in Covent Garden, Westfield and Canary Wharf in the capital, has acquired a 25-year lease for a 7,900sq ft site on the ground floor of the office building on St John Street.
Jamie's Italian, which is headed up by managing director Simon Blagden, opened its first site in Oxford in spring 2008 and now operates 17 restaurants across the UK. The group plans to grow to 25 outlets by the end of this year and recently signed on sites in Milton Keynes and St Albans.
Commenting on the new London restaurant, Blagden said: "The site on the corner of the Angel Building is perfect for the Jamie's Italian collection in London and we're looking forward to making it one of our most beautifully designed restaurants."
Shelley Sandzer and CBRE acted on behalf of real estate investment trust Derwent London, while Graeme Wait represented Jamie Oliver Restaurants.
Jamie's Italian serves classic Italian food at "affordable prices" and its menu offers a range of freshly prepared pasta dishes as well as a selection of fresh breads, antipasti, salads, grills and Italian desserts.
