Fresh plaiceLive hard-shell lobsters at £6.99 a piece are among the range of fresh fish and seafood products available from M&J Seafood, along with seasonal plaice and halibut. The hard-shelled lobsters are better quality and less waterlogged than their soft-shell relatives and are delivered the following day on all orders made by 1pm.

Plaice (pictured), which is at its best between June and August, is sourced from the inshore South Coast or the North Sea. It is sold in œ22.20 packs of 10 whole fish each weighing between 270g and 360g, pan-ready, black-skinned and trimmed.

The season for wild Canadian halibut starts this month, and the creamy-white fish (which is best poached) is sold in two suprême sizes of 140-170g and 170200g at £3.25 and £3.80 respectively.
