Microwave vending system from Merrychef

Wednesday 27 June 2007 07:11
A bespoke microwave oven is at the heart of Feastpoint, a vending system targeting the out-of-hours market at offices and universities with a range of hot restaurant-quality meals plus soups, salads, drinks and snacks.

The packaged, ready-prepared food is stored in a refrigerator within the Feastpoint unit, and users view menu information, including nutritional content, on a digital LCD display. Selection automatically programmes the adjacent Merrychef Microcook microwave oven to the necessary cooking time, which is up to two minutes for a hand-prepared meal. Alternatively, users can take away food in its chilled form.

Feastpoint meals are branded in two ranges: Med Feast denotes Mediterranean dishes such as penne carbonara and fusilli with chicken in a mascarpone and tomato sauce; East Feast includes chicken chow mein and Thai green chicken curry with rice. Merrychef collaborated with Feastpoint on menu development.
