Greener cooler insulation from Precision

British manufacturer Precision has become the first to use a new greener foam insulation across its commercial range of fridges, freezers, prep counters and back-bar coolers.

Unlike conventional polyurethane foams, which are made from polymers derived from petrochemicals, the new Envirofoam R2007 developed by IFS Chemicals is largely sourced from renewable vegetable materials such as rapeseed oil, which accounts for more than 70% of its polyol content.

The new foam also requires only 10% of the energy needed to produce petrochemical-based polyols, while the blowing agent contributes little to global warming and has no adverse effect on the Earth’s ozone layer.
