Caterers can now offer an innovative new fortified wine brand that will appeal to chocoholics and women, as Constellation Europe expands the distribution of its new Rubis from the take-home trade (where it was launched last Christmas) to the on-trade. The 15% abv fortified red wine has been infused with a premium chocolate flavour to produce a rich, velvety drink that is best served at room temperature in a small wine glass or in a tumbler over ice.

"Rubis brings something new to a category that has been crying out for product innovation, and offers retailers a premium profit opportunity through catering for the needs of female pub-goers," says Clare Griffiths, Constellation's vice-president, brands marketing.

The on-trade launch is being supported by an extensive sampling campaign aimed at 1.5 million people attending county and fashion shows, sporting events, and the BBC Good Food Show. It is sold in 50cl bottles packed in cases of six.
