Fresh Prepared is a new service from fresh produce supplier Fresh Direct that aims to save food service operators precious time by providing fruit, vegetable and salad lines that are ready-prepared to their individual requirements.
Fresh Prepared will supply certain cuts or combinations of vegetables packed to a bespoke specification - for instance, in pre-cut, washed, ready-to-cook, garnished, buttered or microwaveable options.
The group says the service - which will operate from a new 17,000sq ft unit at its Bicester headquarters - will appeal to kitchens that are deskilling or to chefs who want to spend more time on areas other than preparation, such as experimentation, quality and presentation.
