Hotels in the North East of England saw revenue per available room (revpar) fall by 0.9% during the month of June.
Revpar dropped to £56.55, down from £57.04 in June 2005, according to figures from hotel benchmarking service The Bench.
Although occupancy grew by 2.6 percentage points to 82.6% this failed to counter a 4% fall in average room rate, which dropped to £68.49 compared with £71.35 in June 2005.

The Bench - which is partnered with US firm Smith Travel Research - provides online benchmarking data for in excess of 34,000 hotels in more than 400 markets.
The online service allows users to track their performance in average room rate, occupancy and revpar in a variety of formats and to measure their daily performance against their competitors.
