The Restaurant at St Paul’s Cathedral in London serves good food in an impressive setting but the restaurant is let down by desperately waning service, according to The Independent.

Food critic Tracey MacLeod says if the “front of house problem” is sorted out, the Harbour & Jones-operated eatery will be an attractive addition to the City dining scene.

“Until then, to echo the verdict of congregations down the ages, great church, shame about the service,” she says.

The Daily Telegraph’s Jasper Gerard finds London stalwart St John, which gained a Michelin star this January, “a bit so-so”.

He says: “And what's so amazing about great hunks of slain animal presented without dressing? Talk about emperor's clothes.”

The Guardian’s Matthew Norman finds the experience of locating and eating at pop-up restaurant Frank’s Café & Campari Bar quite surreal; while the Observer’s Jay Rayner loves the mood of Casamia, Bristol, which is all about encouraging customers to have a nice time.
