Ireland gains two new Michelin-starred restaurants

Ireland has gained two new Michelin-starred restaurants but there were no changes to stars in Wales and Scotland.

Locks Brasserie in Dublin and Aniar in Galway both gained one star each.

Rory Carville, head chef at Locks Brasserie, worked under Conal Breffing at the Lime Tree Restaurant in Kenmare then spent two-and-a-half years under - Terry White as chef de partie working in the Four Seasons Hotel Dublin. He then worked his way up to sous chef at L'Ecrivain, also in Dublin.

Aniar, a terroir-based restaurant, is located in Galway's West End, and the kitchen is run by Enda McEvoy.

Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles retained its two stars to remain the only two-star restaurant in Scotland.

There are no two-star restaurants in Wales.
