It's that depressing time of year again when summer is officially over. Yes, from now on winter draws in the nights and the days get shorter.
The only upside is a well-deserved extra hour in bed on Sunday as the clocks go back this weekend - so don't forget to alter your watches to Greenwich Mean Time, which officially starts at 1am on Sunday morning when the clocks move back by one hour.
The bad news is that the sun will set an hour earlier, meaning we will descend into darkness at about 4.30pm.
