The Gun voted best county dining pub of the year
London Docklands pub the Gun has added another award to its haul, this time being crowned Best County Dining Pub of the Year for London.
The drinking hole won over the Good Pub Guide 2012 judges with its high quality British food, constant reader reviews and an anonymous inspection by guide editors Fiona Stapley and Alisdair Aird.
The pub, which is owned by brothers Tom and Ed Martin, has a string of prestigious awards to its name including Time Out‘s Best Gastro Pub 2006/7, the Hardens and Remy Martin Best Restaurant Award 2006, and The Publican‘s 2007 UK's Best Sunday Lunch.
Speaking about the Good Pub Guide awards criteria, Stapley said: "We look at pubs that source their ingredients carefully as well as putting together a genuinely interesting and imaginative menu. It also becomes clear when a pub is on absolute top form because our readers' enthusiastic reports back this up - we have 35,000 on our system and approximately 2,000 who report to us directly."
Co-owner Tom Martin added: "We are absolutely delighted. It is a testament to the fantastic team we have here. It is great to see the Gun being recognised for using good quality British ingredients and preparing seasonal menus, which is what ETM pubs are all about."
