"As the hectic festive party season looms, Jus-Rol Professional is urging caterers not to miss a lucrative trick by neglecting their offer of finger foods such as vol-au-vents.

"The big danger is that the party buffet menu may get overlooked in the festive rush. That would be a mistake as not everyone will want to sit down for a formal meal," said food service sales manager John McKears.

"Christmas is a great social occasion – one of the year’s biggest opportunity for a get-together – and a time when people really set out to enjoy themselves. This is when buffets really come into their own, providing an easy to eat, casual dining experience that won’t interfere with celebrations and socialising.”

Vol-au-vents make perfect casings for a host of sweet and savoury fillings (such as Red Onion & Goat's Cheese or Parma Ham, Fig & Mascarpone, but the temperamental nature of pastry can put caterers off making large volumes from scratch during the Christmas rush.
