820 Anatolia and Syrie towels from Balineum

Syrie towelBathroom linen and accessories specialist Balineum has made its first move into the towel sector with the launch of two luxury collections.

The first, 820 Anatolia, which is made in Turkey, is claimed to be the heaviest, most luxurious towel available in Europe, with 820gsm (grams per square metre) of cotton compared with a norm of 500-600gsm.

There are five sizes of the 100% cotton towels - face cloth (£5), hand towel (£14), bath towel (œ28), bath sheet (£47) and bath mat (£21). They come in four understated colours (white, clay, sage and duck egg) with a simple border design.

Syrie is a lighter-weight linen-style towel made of organic Egyptian cotton that is hand-spun, hand-loomed and hand-dyed in France so no two towels are the same. Similar in appearance to hamman towels but with a heavier weave and softer feel (that softens with use), Syrie is based on ancient Syrian weaving techniques and a rediscovered medieval textile design.

It is offered as a face towel (£25), a hand towel (£40) and a bath sheet (£85).
