With the 2010 World Cup in South Africa in mind, importer Pierhead has launched the Robsons range of South African bottle-conditioned beers in the UK.

The beers, produced at the Shongweni Brewery, KwaZulu-Natal, include East Coast Ale (4% abv), described as a golden ale with a crisp palate and citrus aromas; Durban Pale Ale (5.7% abv), a strong Pale Ale inspired by the beers that arrived in South Africa on sailing ships destined for India 150 years ago; West Coast Ale (5% abv), a ruby red Californian-style lager packed with a rich biscuit aroma; and Wheat Beer (5% abv), a caramel-coloured beer with a citrus palate, spicy aroma and a modest hop presence.

Also new to the UK market is Bali Hai premium beer from the Bali Hai brewery in Jakarta. The 5% abv beer is specially blended, moderate and slightly dry with a well-rounded finish and a creamy head.

All the beers come in cases of 24 bottles.
