The Six Bells

Punch Taverns’ Six Bells pub is to house Newport’s first Russian restaurant under its new leaseholders.

The pub in Stow Hill is one of 400 former managed Spirit pubs on which Christie + Co has sold new leases for Punch, with a final tranche of 280 venues still on the market.

The new leaseholders are Gordon Peacock from Newport, South Wales, and his partner, Russian-born Irina Shutte.

The three-storey pub opposite the cathedral was created from two separate properties that included a hayloft with a vaulted ceiling.

It comprises an open plan main bar and dining area to seat 100 customers on the ground floor, with a 120-capacity function room on the first floor that will become the Russian restaurant.

The business also provides two separate staff flats and pavement seating to the front and rear.

The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold a new lease on the Six Bells off a guide price of   £49,000, with the rent set at £46,000 per year.
