Matthew Clark list two new Fairtrade wine ranges

Drinks supplier Matthew Clark has introduced two new Fairtrade wine ranges to its list, as demand for more ethically sourced products grow.

Unsung Hero, a new premium range from South Africa has been introduced, including a chenin blanc and shiraz.

A reduced alcohol range called Fair & Light, which features a red, white and rosé wine-based drink of just 5.5% ABV, has also been added to the list.

It already lists mid-point Fairtrade wine brand Fair Horizons, available as a sauvignon blanc, pinotage rosé and cabernet-petit verdot.

Jonathan Woodriffe, of wine producer Origin Wine, which supplies Matthew Clark, told Caterer and Hotelkeeper that while the call for Fairtrade products continues to grow in the off-trade, the on-trade has yet to see demand spike.

The Fairtrade Fortnight campaign kicked off yesterday.
