Male London drinkers most likely in the country to get into a fight

Men drinking in London are more likely to feel aggressive than those outside the capital, a new survey into the negative effects of boozing has found.

Nearly half (47%) of London men felt aggressive after drinking a lot of alcohol, compared with a third (32%) in the rest of the country.

The Drinkware Trust, the educational arm of the Portman Group, has launched a new advertising campaign targeted at young men, after its study “Out of Order” found men are still behaving violently after binge drinking.

Nine out of 10 of those surveyed said they had felt or been sick after drinking too much, and nearly the same figure (84%) had had an argument with friends or girlfriends as a result of over doing it.

Of the 12% who got into a fight, a third said their friends thought they were an idiot afterwards.

Jean Coussins of the Portman Group said: “This research worryingly shows that there is still a proportion of men who are not learning about how excessive drinking can harm both their health and their social lives.”
