An Expedia-owned discount hotel booking site will launch in the UK next month.
Hotwire.com currently operates in the USA and Canada, where it sells an inventory of 25,000 hotels with up to 50% off standard rates, according to www.ttglive.com.
Guests are given information about the hotel but the name isn't revealed until the room has been paid for in a concept similar to Lastminute's "secret hotels" deal.
Clem Bason, president of Hotwire, said: "Customers are looking for new ways to save when booking a holiday or short break.
"At Hotwire that's what we do. We work hard every day to bring unsold rooms to consumers at deeply discounted prices, ensuring that customers continue to have great travel experiences - they just pay less for them."
