Soho House Group has taken over the restaurant at the Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch, east London, Caterersearch can reveal.

The company, which owns nearby private members' club Shoreditch House, has taken on a five-year lease for the 120-seat Hoxton Grille located on the ground floor of the Sinclair Beecham-owned property.

Soho House UK operations director Martin Kuczmarski will oversee the incorporation of the restaurant into the business, with changes set to be made over the coming months.

However, chief executive Nick Jones told Caterersearch the changes would be minimal.

"The Hoxton Grille already has lots of great things about it so it's more about tweaking than changing it," he said. "We are taking over the existing staff and will add to that."

Separately Jones revealed that Soho House Group had taken on the site of the former T Bar in the Tea Building on Shoreditch High Street.

"We have taken on the T Bar and will relaunch it as a pizza parlour in October. I can't reveal much about this yet but the concept will be grown-up pizza," he said. "We're in love with Shoreditch, it's a vibrant, interesting and fun area and we want to be part of that. Shoreditch House, which will launch its 26 bedrooms next January, has been a great success and it'll be great to have a public space in addition to the private members' club."

Soho House Group will open its Dean Street Town House & Dining Room in Soho later this year. The development will have 41 bedrooms as well as the all-day Dining Room restaurant on the ground floor.

The group also has further overseas Soho House ventures planned for next year in locations including Berlin, Miami, West Hollywood and Chicago.

Foraging – why all the attention?

Using foraged ingredients is nothing new but the trend has become more mainstream over the past two years. However, the wider use of foraged food in restaurants also carries a certain amount of danger.
