London Mayor Boris Johnson is lending his support to a pubs- and bars-targeted charity initiative this October.
The Part with a Pound event, organised by London for London, is designed to help combat anti-social behaviour amongst young people by asking punters enjoying a night out at pubs, bars and clubs to donate a pound.
Funds raised – an anticipated £1m - will go towards the charities Kids Company, Capital Radio’s Help a London Child and the Metropolitan Police initiative Volunteer Police Cadets.
Johnson commented: “London for London is fundraising for three great causes that make an immense difference to young people across the capital. I encourage everybody who’s out and about on Saturday 3 October to help play a part in tackling youth crime by giving generously.”
Licensing solicitors Poppleston Allen, Novus Leisure venues, pub chain O’Neill’s, Match bars, Maddox, Boujis and Whisky Mist bars are amongst the companies supporting the event.
