Birds Eye fish finger sandwichBuilding on the heritage of the Birds Eye brand, Birds Eye Foodservice is launching as a business next month.

There are four core product categories - fish, poultry, vegetables and red meat - and the product range has been developed to suit a wide variety of caterers, from school kitchens to pubs, restaurants and leisure outlets.

Launch products include Omega 3 Fish Fingers, Fish Fingers in Crispy Batter, Fish Fingers with 100% Cod Fillet, Chicken Burgers, Crispy Chicken Dippers, made using only 100% chicken breast, Peas, Petits Pois, Organic Peas, Soya Beans, Steam Bag Vegetables and Original Beef Burgers.

All are free from hydrogenated vegetable oil and are non-GM. Meat products contain no added phosphates, while core lines all contain 100% prime fish fillet or 100% chicken breast. Omega 3 Fish Fingers are also MSC-certified.

"We're committed to producing the highest-calibre food that's frozen for freshness, as well as being naturally nutritious, sustainable and traceable," explains Justin Burbage, Birds Eye Foodservice director.

"Nutrition, quality and convenience are keywords for us, with healthy dining for children a particular concern, and all of our children's products carry the 'Captain's Nutrition Mission', which ensures those products are free from artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Our products are all 20% or less of a five- to 10-year-old's GDA for fat, saturated fat and salt per recommended serving. Furthermore, they all meet FSA guidelines in relation to salt content."

The product range is complemented by a range of support services, including a website offering in-depth nutritional information, channel sector overviews and downloadable point of sale material, in addition to recipes and product lists.
