Privately-owned Forestdale Hotels has acquired its 20th property with the purchase of the Blackwell Grange hotel in Darlington, Durham.
Blackwell Grange was bought from previous owner Corus for an undisclosed sum.
It is a 17th-century building with 100 bedrooms and 11 conference rooms with capacity for up to 250 delegates, set in 15 acres of woodland.
David Larcombe, chief executive of Forestdale, said: “We are pleased to take this property on board and will be investing heavily in bringing this once grand hotel back to its rightful position as the key hotel in Darlington.”
Forestdale has 19 hotels in the UK and one in France, all operating in the three-star market. Locations include Bristol, Nottingham, Winchester and the New Forest.
