The Mulberry Tree

Caterer Best for Business participant the Mulberry Tree in Boughton Monchelsea, Kent, has won praise in its first review in the national papers.

Daily Telegraph
critic Jasper Gerard was delighted to discover the Mulberry Tree in an area not generally known for its cuisine, even if it was a little hard to find in the Kent countryside.

He described his meal at the there as a “bargain lunch with great rural ingredients and even greater potential.”

“Like drunks, Kent restaurants receive a bad press. And that’s when they get any press at all,” commented Gerard, who added that a typical Kentish cookbook would most likely be called Recipes for the Microwave or 100 Dishes With Chips.

Although the review was the Mulberry Tree’s first in a national newspaper, the restaurant has already caught the attention of the Good Food Guide, which earlier this year voted it the regional winner for the South East in its annual awards. The restaurant also made the list of Britain’s top 100 restaurants by SE Restaurant of the Year and Eat Out magazine.

The Mulberry Tree is, perhaps unsurprisingly, also Kent Restaurant of the Year.
