Delegates at Radisson Blu hotels to be kept alert with brain food

Delegates attending meetings and events at Radisson Blu's 13 hotels are expected to benefit from new initiatives aimed at providing them with more energy, creativity and connectivity.

The Experience Meetings package is made up of three elements. The first, Brain Food, will ensure guests are served with low-fat and low-sugar ingredients, including plenty of fish, wholegrain products, fruits and vegetables, to maintain blood sugar levels and ensure guests keep their concentration.

Second, a breakout room called the Brain Box is designed to stimulate creativity by providing flexible furniture to create a relaxed environment, alongside Plexiglas walls to write on.

And finally, all delegates will be fully connected through free and fast Wi-Fi.

Philip Mahoney, area vice-president, UK & Ireland, Radisson Blu, said that Experience Meetings had been a great success when put to the test earlier this month at the Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) conference, at the Radisson Blu Stansted.

"We have been trialling Brain Food in our Nordic hotels for a year now and have had very positive feedback," he explained. "There is nothing new about recognising that eating plenty of grains and fruit help to keep people alert, but ensuring that is the focus of our food offer in a meeting environment really does make a positive difference."

"Brain Box recognises that people tend to be more creative when provided with a relaxed environment and free Wi-Fi with a wide bandwidth is now essential for the business traveller. We had around 240 delegates at the HBAA conference tweeting on their mobile devices and the facilities worked a treat."

Experience Meetings will be introduced into the Radisson Blu Leeds in the next few weeks, with the rest of the UK portfolio of hotels benefiting from the initiative over the next 12 months.
