Spanish tapas bar chain La Tasca has reported promising interim results in its pre-close statement.

Trading for the six months up to 30 October is “well ahead” of the comparable period last year, the group said.

La Tasca, which has been increasing its portfolio throughout the year, is set to open two new restaurants, which are currently under construction in Sheffield and Newcastle, before Christmas.

The expansion-hungry chain, which opened six new restaurants in the first half of the financial year, hopes to have opened 14 new eateries by the end of 2005.

The group also reported that Christmas bookings were currently ahead of last year.

An official announcement of its year-end results is scheduled for 13 December.
