Budget hotel chain Travelodge has launched a fast-track training scheme for new hotel managers and assistant managers to help meet its growth strategy over the next four years.
About 50 new managers are expected to take part in the training programme next year and the scheme is available to all staff.
The selection process involves two interviews and successful applicants are then enrolled on a 12-week training programme.
The scheme includes best practice in all areas of hotel management, including customer service, housekeeping, reception and catering. Successful applicants will then take responsibility for their own hotel and a team of up to 40 staff.
Travelodge plans to open a new hotel every eight days next year and to have an extra 32,000 bedrooms in the UK by 2010. It is opening 17 new hotels and creating more than 400 jobs in the run up to Christmas 2006.
Jane Frost, Travelodge's training and brand support manager said: "We are committed to helping our staff realise their full potential through learning and development and this is why we have created such a unique training programme.
"The scheme is essential as it will help us meet the demand for high-calibre individuals to manage the 40 (approximate) new hotels we intend to open every year to 2010."
