Eden Hotel Collection buys second hotel from in-administration Von Essen

Eden Hotel Collection has picked up its second property from in-administration Von Essen, after it sealed a deal to buy the Mount Somerset hotel and spa near Taunton off a guide price of £3m.

Earlier this month, the company acquired the Greenaway hotel and spa in Cheltenham.

The acquisition of the Mount Somerset, a Georgian country house hotel set in four acres of grounds, means that Eden now has seven properties and two spas in its collection.

Other properties it owns include: Michelin-starred Mallory Court in Leamington Spa; Buckland Tout-Saints in Devon; the Kings Hotel in Chipping Campden; the Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon; and Brockencote Hall hotel in Worcestershire.

The group's managing director, Mark Chambers, said: "We are delighted to be adding the Mount Somerset hotel and spa to Eden Hotel Collection. We believe it is a beautiful addition to our portfolio of luxury hotels and reflects the standard of our exclusive group.

"We are excited to be adding our second spa property to the Eden Hotel Collection, which has added a different dynamic to our company, and to be taking the Mount Somerset back into private ownership, where it will get the care and attention needed to return it to its former glory."
