DO YOU THINK RESTAURANT REVIEWS CAN GO TOO FAR?

If they write a bland review, no one's going to read it. But most people know that, and I'm not sure that readers take reviews too seriously.

DAVID ADLARD, CHEF-PROPRIETOR, ADLARD'S, NORWICH

Nine times out of 10 there will be something constructive that you can use, even in the most despicable reviews. We're the first ones to bask in the glory of a good review, but when they become personal and nasty, I think that's unacceptable.

MICHEL ROUX JNR, CHEF-Proprietor, LE GAVROCHE, LONDON

A critic has to retain the customer's point of view, and if they do that they can be as honest as they like. If a restaurant closes after a bad review, it's only ever the straw that broke the camel's back. If you are getting the restaurant right, it doesn't matter what a critic says.

IAN FLEMING, PROPRIETOR, THE BUTTERY AND THE BELFRY, GLASGOW

I do think if you get slated it can close a restaurant. But if you get a global amount of bad reviews you are probably just crap. In general, I think they do a good job and know what they are doing.

MARK FULLER, RESTAURATEUR AND CLUB OWNER
