Caterers at east London venue ExCel enjoyed the best-ever London Boat Show, with record attendances.

Organisers of the event, held at ExCel for the first time in its 50-year history, said a bumper crowd of 210,000 passed through its gates for the 10-day show in early January, 45% more than the previous year.

The Costa Coffee outlet recorded sales 20% higher than usual and retail outlet Birleys sold a total of 12,000 burgers, 1,500 on the last Saturday - a record for its operations.

The next event to be held at ExCel is Hotelympia, which runs from 23 to 27 February.
