The general manager of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons has left under a veil of secrecy, Caterer learned this week.

Owners Orient-Express Hotels and Raymond Blanc would only confirm that Jonathan Orr-Ewing, who had been general manager of the restaurant in Great Milton, Oxfordshire, for a year, had left "by mutual agreement" with immediate effect two weeks ago.

Resident manager Tom Lewis has been made acting general manager. He and other candidates are being considered for the position.

Orr-Ewing, believed to be on holiday, was unavailable for comment.
