Ferrari deal boosts Stones Events

Wednesday 20 May 2009 16:14

An East Midlands catering company is expecting turnover to soar this year – and much of it is thanks to Ferrari.

Stones Events – based in the Leicestershire village of Kibworth – won corporate hospitality deals with Ferrari worth £100,000 last year.

But the company is now expecting to secure further contracts from the Italian giant, after catering for scores of VIPs earlier this month at a London celebration to mark the opening of Ferrari’s first merchandising shop in the UK.

F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari president, Luca Di Montezemolom, were among the 250 guests.

Tom Goodwin, managing director of Stones Events, said: “Working for the likes of Ferrari and Kimi Raikkonen is fantastic. It’s a great honour.”

He expects turnover to increase from £600,000 to £750,000 this year thanks to the work for the car company, plus contracts with several other luxury brands.

In July Stones will cater for the two-week British Wheelchair Tennis Open, in a contract worth £50,000.

Wedding catering – which Tom Goodwin describes as “recession-proof” – makes up around a quarter of the company’s turnover.

The link with Ferrari started with what was meant to be a one-off at Donington Park five years ago.
