A Georgian townhouse hotel in the heart of the historic town of Warwick has come to the market with a price tag of £975,000.

The Aylesford hotel is a Grade II-listed building that was constructed in 1696 after the great fire of Warwick and restored to its former glory in 1998.

It occupies a corner site on the High Street next to the tourist information centre and is just a five-minute walk from Warwick Castle, a short drive from the Midlands motorway network, and a 20-minute drive from Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.

The three-diamond hotel offers eight individual en-suite bedrooms (one with a four-poster bed) which have been redecorated recently by the current owners who have held the property for a year.

During that time, they have also added a new catering kitchen and renovated the cellar to create the popular 30-seat L’Amuse Bouche restaurant, which serves French cuisine prepared by Paris-trained chefs.

The restaurant has become a popular venue for private parties and smaller weddings.

The hotel also has a 30-seat café-bar, Petit Paris, which is claimed to have been the first French brasserie to open in Warwick.

Petit Paris also carries a pavement licence to allow al fresco dining during the summer

“The current owners believe that there are a number of further opportunities to continue to improve the trade, given the property’s location,” commented Tamar McDonough at Christie + Co’s Birmingham office, which has been instructed to market the hotel.
