Couture wins £3.5m deal at Liverpool Cathedral

Specialist concession caterer Couture has won a £3.5m contract at Liverpool Cathedral.

The five-year deal, which sees Couture operate the restaurant, café and hospitality suites at the cathedral, commenced this week.

It involves a rolling refurbishment programme during the handover of the catering facilities over the summer months.

The current refectory will be renamed the Welsford, after the Welsford Porch, which was so-called after one of the Cathedral's early benefactors. The Mezzanine Café and the Western Rooms function suite will also be renamed.

The cathedral has capacity for large-scale dining for up to 1,500 covers which Couture will actively promote.

Couture secured the contract by reflecting the cathedral's values and philosophy towards freshly prepared food.

Dean of Liverpool the Very Revd Justin Welby said: "We are delighted to be able to offer the contract to Couture.

"Their approach to food, the Cathedral and our partnership were very impressive ahead of a strong field of quality caterers. We look forward to working with them as they develop our catering".

Marc Warde, managing director of Couture, added: "We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Liverpool Cathedral and furthering our growth in the North of England.

"Our offer of flexible space, great views and innovative food will work extremely well in the magnificent setting of Liverpool Cathedral".
