Monsieur Menier, the inventor of the chocolate bar (a great man) and the chocolate-covered pill, was the most famous chocolatier of his day. His son, Emile Menier, continued in his father's footsteps but managed to extend the luxury - formerly reserved for the wealthy - to the masses.
All this is really a prologue to the fact that the family's chocolate factory built in 1870 in Southwark Street, London, has now been transformed into a restaurant, theatre and art gallery.
The theatre is running a production entitled Fully Committed, which gives a short, but hilarious and insightful glimpse into the reservations office of a fashionable New York eaterie. The story might be based in the USA and feature mostly imaginary characters, but you'll recognise them instantly.
The one-man show is about to move to the West End, so see it while you can in the intimacy of this endearing theatre and enjoy a rather scrumptious menu at the attached 60-cover restaurant while you're there.
