Holiday Inn promises bigger and better water parks

Thursday 29 September 2005 00:00

Holiday Inn is to dramatically expand its themed water parks and Holidomes during the next three years in North America.

The resorts provide indoor recreation centres and water activities allowing for year-round trade. The number of Holidomes, which have about 200 rooms, is set to double from 140 to up to 300 in that time. New specifications include a minimum space of 5,000sq ft and enhanced water features.

IHG's larger water parks, which have 300-plus bedrooms, will more than double, from 13 to nearly 30 resorts. Each property has to be a minimum of 10,000sq ft and have full-service food courts and a fitness centre.

Mark Snyder, senior vice-president of brand management at Holiday Inn, said: "The trend for indoor water parks is increasing in the States. They're popular with customers and provide a good investment on return for owners. Water parks can double or even triple weekend rates."
