Wilson Vale wins £400K contract at The Mount School
Leicestershire catering firm Wilson Vale has been awarded a £400,000 school meals contract with a day and boarding school for girls in York.
The one-year deal, which began at the start of the academic year, sees Wilson Vale provide breakfast, lunch and supper for The Mount School's 350 pupils, as well as staff.
The caterer will also operate the hospitality for the independent school's governors, parents and special events when required.
The school bursar Julie Davis said: "We are frankly astounded with the remarkable transformation that Wilson Vale's team has made from day one even though we gave them only two weeks notice."
The new food service, which uses local suppliers and fresh ingredients, has been welcomed by both pupils and staff, she added.
Andrew Wilson, managing director of the firm, said that after being squeezed into second place last year, he was delighted to get the call asking Wilson Vale to take over.
"There is no doubt that while we will never be the lowest cost provider we can demonstrate tremendous value for our clients with our fresh food culture and practical craft emphasis," he said.
