Barony Castle is new addition to Accor's Mercure brand
Barony Castle has been rebranded as the Mercure Eddleston Barony Castle Hotel and Spa, following its sale by the De Vere Group.
The four-star, 78-bedroom property was sold in excess of the guide price of £1.95m and has since undergone a £400,000 refurbishment which has included the addition of new bedroom suites and leisure facilities. Set within 25-acres of gardens, the hotel includes an indoor swimming pool, mini-gym, spa, sauna, five-a-side football pitch and rope course.
Prestige Hotel Management is now operating the property, through a franchise agreement, under Accor's mid-scale Mercure brand. John Shevlin, operations director, Prestige Hotel Management, said: "We have worked hard to refurbish the hotel, keeping its traditional Scottish baronial features but incorporating a modern, contemporary design and additional facilities. We are really excited about the new look for the hotel.

The castle has kept its traditional feel whilst the refurbishment brings it up to date with all the modern facilities guests need."
Accor is set to add four new Mercure properties to its portfolio within the next four months, bringing the number of hotels in the brand up to 75. It recently announced that it is committed to significantly grow the Mercure brand further by 2015.
