Indian restaurant owners Arjun and Andy Vama have launched their latest venture, Khana, an Indian in-flight meal service.

The company aims to supply all the major airlines and become the “premier supplier of bespoke Indian cuisine for in-flight catering industry”.

Khana was pitched to British Airways, Air India, Virgin Atlantic and Gate Gourmet in the hope of securing contracts and expanding its in-flight operation.

The Vama brothers have teamed up with Dutch manufacturer Marfo VB and Khana will be able to provide up to 150,000 meals a day from a menu of 25 dishes developed and refined by Andy.

He said: “The in-flight meal is another way for the airlines to bring added value to their service and with the meals created and produced by Khana, we are providing the carriers with the opportunity to serve restaurant quality food during the flight, a first in the industry.”

The brothers, who started their Kings Road restaurant Vama in 1998, already provide Virgin Airlines with Indian meals on all their flights between the UK and India.
