The Scottish Beer and Pub Association (SBPA) has said it is “disappointed” by the Scottish Executive’s decision not to grant more consultation time for the country’s new alcohol laws.
The consultation closes 8 December with draft regulations due in February 2007.
The SBPA is worried that with the dissolution of the Scottish Parliament set for April 2007 the process will be rushed as with the Scottish smoking ban.
“This will come as a disappointment to the licensed industry. The Parliament will have a very limited amount of time to consider well over a hundred pages of detailed regulations,” said SBPA chief executive Patrick Browne.
